Hot Zen Island exists between a spa, a Japanese rock garden, and a demolition site. Dust collected from the demolition of a Hooters restaurant was used to make the sculptures and video in the exhibition. The installation borrows from wellness spaces and Western ideas of the East, bringing relaxation and ruin into close proximity.
