Turn Your Face Toward the Sun (2016) assembles found video and audio to stage a critique of willful optimism amid political anxiety. As the camera pans across magazine images—stilettos, parquet floors, designer furniture, carefully placed art books—a young woman whispers what she calls “positive affirmations.” The sound is muffled, yet the clichés register as commands: “Move on, it’s just a chapter in the past.” “Don’t close the book, just turn the page.”
